Spirogyra is free floating green algae mainly found in fresh water . It has a filamentous structure. It has spiral shape chloroplast. They can reproduce both sexually & asexually. It reproduce by sexual conjugation method & asexual reproduction occurs by fragmentation..

Division: Thallophyta
Class : Zygnematophyceae
Order: Zygnematales
Family: Zygnemataceae
Genus : Spirogyra
