Sodium dissolves in liquid ammonia giving deep blue coloured solutions which is electrically conducting in nature.
Na + (x + y) NH3 → [Na(NH3)x]+ + [e(NH3)y]
Due to formation of ions, the solution shows electrical conductivity.
